KUNST DIGITAL: “Nahaufnahme” Bahzad Sulaiman – A series of interviews with artists* of the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken in collaboration with the Regionalverband Saarbrücken.
Bahzad Sulaiman (born 1991 in Rmelan/Syria) is a Kurdish visual artist & performance artist. In his work he combines disciplines such as installation, the body as a sculptural object and improvisation with the exploration and limitation of the body in space.
He draws indirect inspiration from his Kurdish cultural roots. In this context, the themes of his work are often determined by the combination of folk dances and traditional practices, in the movement process and spatial context. Before coming to Saarbrücken in 2016, where he graduated in performance and installation from HBKsaar in 2019, he studied sculpture and scenography in Damascus.
