»CHOR II« is an interdisciplinary light installation consisting of a collection of discarded household appliances. Refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and microwaves are stacked on top of each other to form a 7-metre-high sculpture. Various light sources illuminate the interiors of the appliances, with the lighting mood contrasting with their energy. Appliances that emit cold energy in their function glow with warm-toned light, while appliances that produce warm energy glow with cool-toned light. Embedded in a sound collage of the all-too-familiar and everyday noises of the machines, the work uses objects as archives and transforms them into places of memory. Some of the devices were previously made available to the artist by residents of Hildesheim. Thus, part of the urban community has also been incorporated here, with all the everyday stories of their former owners. Their stories tell of everyday life and habits, use and decay, but also of resources and consumption.
